These terms apply to the text message (SMS) program operated by the Houston
Chapter of the Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists (“SIPES
Houston”). By providing your mobile number and checking the consent box on our
membership application, you agree to these terms.

Program description

SIPES Houston sends text messages to members and membership applicants who
have opted in. Messages cover the status of your membership application, the
next step required of you, reminders and payment links for chapter dues, and
announcements about SIPES Houston luncheons and events. We do not send
advertising, and we do not send messages on behalf of anyone else.

How to join the program

You opt in by entering your mobile number and checking the consent box on the
SIPES Houston membership application. The box is not pre-checked, and consent is
optional — you do not need to agree to texts to apply for
membership, pay dues, or attend an event.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies with the status of your application and the chapter
calendar. Most recipients receive fewer than one message per month.

Cost

Message and data rates may apply. SIPES Houston does not
charge for these messages, but your mobile carrier’s standard rates for messages
and data will apply according to your plan.

How to stop messages

You can cancel at any time by replying STOP to any message
from us. You will receive one final message confirming you have been
unsubscribed, after which we will send no further texts. To rejoin later, reply
START or check the consent box on a future form.

Carriers

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is
subject to effective transmission by your mobile carrier and is not guaranteed.
Supported carriers may change without notice.

Privacy

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates
for marketing or promotional purposes. All of the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. Our full

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and the account holder of, or authorized to
use, the mobile number you provide.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; if we do, we will change the date at the top of
this page. Continuing to receive messages after a change means you accept the
updated terms.
