Synopsis
The North Slope in Alaska is often thought to be only for the large companies and operators, however its just not true. The area has a rich history of being driven by independent oil finders. The risk taking and independent thinking of these people has driven the continued exploration of the area. In the most recent election Alaska made a crucial decision to continue support of the oil business by bucking the federal government trend and allowing for exploration, including fracking on state lands. Due to this Alaska has had a resurgence of exploration and is continuing down that path. In this talk, Matt Boyce (president of Epoch Consulting) will illustrate the history of independents, ongoing opportunities and the most recent discovery by Burgundy Xploration and others.
Speaker
Dr. Matt Boyce:
Matt is by education a geologist with a BS and MS from University of Arkansas as well as a PhD from West Virginia University. In addition to geology Matt has spent much of his career as Petrophysicist with emphasis on Cluster analysis and Core NMR. In 2018, Matt founded EPOCH consulting to begin his journey as an independent. In 2019 Burgundy Xploration began a project with EPOCH consulting that grew into a working relationship/partnership and eventually resulted in contributions to the newest discovery well named the Charlie 1 on the North Slope.
